In this Archaeopark, a listed site and monument with recreated buildings, you can experience everyday life in a Roman villa from the 1st century BC. At the time, it was one of the largest villas in northern Gaul. Two excavation campaigns (in 1891 and in 1991) revealed a main building (104 m long by 30 m wide) and several outbuildings. It was probably the fertile soil and the strategic location of the place that attracted first the Gauls and then the Romans to Malagne.
A visit to Malagne is definitely an educational and entertaining visit: ancient breeds, vegetable garden, cereal farming, orchard, apiary, aromatic and medicinal plants… In their workshops, the site experiments with ancient techniques linked to working with earth and fire. You can also admire archaeological exhibitions, audiovisual and multimedia material.
