Long Distance Trails

    Put on your hiking shoes and set off to explore the GR trails (Long Distance Trails).

    Of varying distance, these marked trails take you everywhere. In Belgium, there are two types:

    • Les sentiers de grande liaison : ils relient souvent deux régions, deux villes voire deux pays
    • Les sentiers de découverte régional : ils sont plus locaux

    GR Trail of the Trappist Abbeys of Wallonia

    272km long, the SAT connects the three Walloon abbeys where Trappist beers are brewed. This trail takes you to discover the heritage and local products of the region. Trappist beers are listed as UNESCO cultural and intangible heritage.

    This map illustrates all the Long Distance (GR) trails which cross Belgian territory. This network of trails, which extends over a total distance of approximately 9,000 kilometers, offers a multitude of opportunities for hiking enthusiasts. GRs are designed to connect varied regions, allowing hikers to enjoy a diverse and immersive experience in the heart of nature.
